Granite Belt Grape and Wine

September Vineyard Walk follow-up

It was great to see so many turn out for the September vineyard walk at Bungawarra, with over 30 signing the register, it was one of our biggest walks.
We had many interesting speakers at this walk, including Anthony Rice from the newly formed Granite Belt Integrated Pest Management. Ant spoke on the topic of monitoring vineyards for pests and also beneficials. Ant has since come across a useful (free) app developed by the Western Australia DPI, which I wanted to pass onto all those at the walk. It is useful for identifying pests, beneficials and diseases of grapevines. Although it has WA focus, it is still applicable to QLD and has much more information than the pocket guide to pests and diseases that was known to many of us at the walk. Check it out at www.agric.wa.gov.au/apps/mypestguide-grapes.
